Born in 1978 in Nancy, Sébastien Gouju lives and works between Nancy and Paris.
After graduating from ENSA and ANRT in Nancy, he co-directs from 2003 to 2008 the Castel Coucou association in Forbach ; then he creates and manages until 2017 the Ergastule publishing workshop in Nancy.
Sébastien Gouju has several solo exhibitions in France and abroad (Lille, Metz, Strasbourg, Paris, Berlin, Stuttgart…). Since 2007, he is represented by Semiose gallery in Paris where he has several solo exhibitions (2007, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2019).
Sébastien Gouju's works have recently been exhibited at La Chapelle des Calvairiennes-Centre d'art contemporain, Mayenne (FR) ; Le Cyclop, Milly-la-Forêt (FR) ; Abbaye royale de Fontevraud (FR) ; Galerie-Centre d'art contemporain, Noisy-le-Sec (FR) ; Fondation Villa Datris, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (FR) ; Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MÉCA, Bordeaux (FR) ; FRAC-Artothèque Limousin, Limoges (FR) ; Abbaye Saint André-Centre d’art contemporain, Meymac (FR). In 2018, Sébastien Gouju has participated in the artist residency program of Fondation Hermès.
His works are included in several collections : Frac Alsace, Sélestat (FR) ; Frac Champagne-Ardenne, Reims (FR) ; Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), Paris (FR) ; HBK Saar Collection, Saarbrücken (DE) ; Collection of the city of Dudelange (LU) ; Musée de l’image, Épinal (FR) ; Fondation Colas, Paris (FR) ; and in several art libraries : Pessac, Caen, Strasbourg, Auxerre (FR).
